About Friends of Ben Tucker, Inc.

The Friends of Ben Tucker, Inc. is a community-based 501(c)3 non-profit Organization formed to embody all the rich attributes which Ben Tucker stood for and which are incorporated in “Our Mission”. In September 2013, ten close friends of Ben recognized the impact that he had on the Savannah community and were compelled to carry on his work that he was so passionate about. Friends of Ben Tucker, Inc is committed to the preservation of Ben Tucker’s legacy and to the values that transform people’s lives through music, collaboration, literacy, cultural enrichment and community development.
Programs cosponsored by the Friends of Ben Tucker, Inc. include an annual free Jazz Concert each June, scholarships to area students, the Keep The Music Playing program which provides free band instruments along with maintenance and education to needy students, the restoration of Ben’s 250 year old bass “Bertha”, and the production of the movie “In Tune”, which chronicled the life of Mr. Ben Tucker. Future projects include having a bronze statue of Ben and Bertha constructed and erected in a Savannah square to serve as a visual reminder of Ben’s legacy to this community.
